A coordination meeting held on November 5, 2024, in Marib, northeastern Yemen, focused on enhancing humanitarian responses to support displaced individuals and host communities in the governorate.
Organized by the Office of Planning and International Cooperation, the meeting brought together officials involved in planning and implementing multi-sectoral relief projects. During the session, two projects funded by BHA and ECHO were signed for an eight-month implementation period by the International Solidarity Organization.
The agreements were signed by several key figures, including the Director of Planning and International Cooperation, Eng. Saleh Al-Saqaf; the Director of the Public Health and Population Office, Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Abadi; the General Director of Water, Hussein Jalal; the General Director of the Rural Water Authority, Ali Hithal; and representatives from the Executive Unit for Displaced Persons, including Arafat Al-Sabbari. The organization was represented by Security and Coordination Officer Nawaf Al-Adrahi and Water Director Abdulilah Al-Areifi.
According to the organization, the projects aim to benefit 28,137 individuals in water, sanitation, hygiene, and shelter, as well as 5,320 beneficiaries in food security. The initiatives are expected to improve health conditions by targeting 4,200 individuals in areas related to water, sanitation, and hygiene, contributing to a reduction in mortality and diseases associated with malnutrition and epidemics.
Additionally, the organization plans to support families in the Marib city and Valley districts by providing food assistance and emergency kits related to water, sanitation, and hygiene, as well as offering shelter and maintaining and expanding public infrastructure.
The meeting also discussed the various activities that the International Solidarity Organization intends to implement in Marib, emphasizing the importance of close coordination and the provision of necessary support to facilitate the organization's tasks.
