Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, stated on November 6, 2024, that the true test for the new U.S. administration regarding the region and the Muslim peoples starts with halting the war in Gaza and initiating a comprehensive peace process leading to an independent Palestinian state.

Al-Alimi made these remarks during a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Fagin to discuss the latest developments and efforts to achieve peace in Yemen, as reported by the official Saba News Agency.

He congratulated the ambassador and the American people on Donald Trump's election victory for a non-consecutive second term, highlighting the significance of the democratic process in the United States and the global desire for meaningful change.

The Yemeni official emphasized the council's and the Yemeni government's commitment to working "seriously and positively" with the new U.S. administration to benefit both countries and achieve the end of the Houthi rebellion, which is internationally classified as a terrorist organization, and restore the state.

Al-Alimi also outlined the efforts made by the leadership council and government to address the challenges faced by the Yemeni people, stressing the need for support to fulfill their commitments across various sectors.

In response, Ambassador Fagin reaffirmed the United States' support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government's efforts to confront various challenges and work towards peace, security, and stability in Yemen.

Earlier in the day, Trump announced his electoral victory, claiming he had won the popular vote and secured approximately 315 Electoral College votes, expressing gratitude for the support from the American people.
