On November 8, 2024, a solidarity rally took place in Marib to express strong condemnation of the ongoing "genocide" being perpetrated by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip. The event highlighted the perceived inaction of the international community and the unprecedented silence from Arab and Islamic nations.

The rally, held following Friday prayers in the city center, saw demonstrators chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian people and denouncing the aggressive actions of the Israeli occupation.

In a statement shared with Barran Press, the protesters called upon the world's moral conscience to stand courageously against "Zionist barbarism" and to demand an end to the "horrific humanitarian bleeding" occurring in Gaza. The statement noted the extensive destruction in northern Gaza due to ongoing Israeli airstrikes and military operations, which have led to catastrophic conditions for the civilian population.

The statement expressed outrage over the brutal crimes committed by the occupation, including systematic killings, destruction, and the displacement of civilians, whose hopes for a dignified life are being crushed under relentless attacks.

Protesters urged the United Nations and influential countries to take immediate and concrete steps to halt the genocide in Gaza, emphasizing that mere verbal condemnation is no longer acceptable in light of these ongoing violations.

They also called on the newly elected U.S. administration to heed the voices of the American public opposing the war on Gaza, asserting that the Palestinian people will continue to resist occupation and will not accept any negotiations that undermine their rights, freedom, and aspirations for an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Additionally, the rally urged humanitarian and rights organizations worldwide to prove their presence and enhance efforts to provide urgent assistance, while documenting violations to ensure accountability before international justice.

The statement reminded the Arab and Islamic worlds that "Gaza is an integral part of the conscience of the nation" and that people are awaiting a clear and brave stance that goes beyond traditional condemnation to meaningful action in support of the Palestinian cause.

It also called on all free peoples who believe in freedom and justice to stand with the Palestinian people in their struggle for dignity, asserting that their solidarity is a voice of truth that cannot be silenced.

For over a year, Marib has hosted solidarity events supporting the Palestinian people against what they describe as a destructive and brutal war waged by the Israeli occupation, backed by unprecedented American and Western support. Hundreds from various social and political backgrounds, civil society organizations, and students have participated in these protests.
