Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi has ordered the immediate arrest of the soldier accused of killing two Saudi officers at a coalition forces camp in Seiyun, Hadramout Governorate, according to a statement released by the office of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and published by the official Saba news agency.

The statement, released on November 9th, 2024, described the attack as a "treacherous terrorist act" and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the crime, conducted in coordination with the leadership of the joint forces in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen. President al-Alimi stressed the importance of taking necessary measures at all levels to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The statement further clarified that the attack, which occurred on the evening of November 8th, was carried out by a soldier affiliated with the First Military Region. It emphasized that this individual does not represent the majority of honorable members of the Yemeni armed forces who appreciate the significant contributions and sacrifices of their Saudi counterparts in the coalition.

This incident follows an earlier statement by Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition Forces, confirming the deaths of the two Saudi officers and the injury of a third. General Al-Maliki described the attack as "cowardly" and stated that the incident occurred during a routine sports training session at the coalition camp, which supports Yemeni forces in combating terrorism and smuggling, while also assisting with humanitarian and development projects. The bodies of the deceased officers and the injured officer were transferred to Saudi Arabia.

Earlier reports from various media outlets and activists identified the attacker as Mohammed Saleh Al-Arousi. While these reports lacked official confirmation, the Yemeni President's order underscores the gravity of the situation and the determination of the Yemeni government to bring the perpetrator to justice.
