The U.S. Department of Defense confirmed on November 10, 2024, that American fighter jets targeted facilities belonging to the Houthi group, which is internationally designated as a terrorist organization.
In a statement, the Pentagon announced that U.S. aircraft conducted multiple airstrikes late Saturday, focusing on sophisticated weapon storage sites belonging to the Houthis, although specific locations were not disclosed.
A U.S. defense official told AFP that these weapons were reportedly being used to attack military and civilian vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Earlier on Saturday, Houthi-affiliated media claimed that U.S. and British forces had carried out airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, as well as in Amran and other regions. According to Houthi reports, the U.S.-British coalition targeted the Al-Nahdin and Al-Hafa military camps in the Sab'een district, south of Sana’a.
Since October, the Iran-aligned Houthis have continued their missile and drone assaults on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Arabian Sea, and Gulf of Aden. In response to the Houthi threat and to safeguard maritime navigation, the United States formed a multinational coalition in December 2023. U.S. forces have periodically conducted strikes against Houthi military targets.
Since January 12, the number of U.S. and British airstrikes against the Houthis has reached approximately 560, resulting in the reported deaths of 58 individuals and injuries to 86 others, according to Houthi admissions.
