On November 10, 2024, Lieutenant General Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman, commander of the Joint Forces, reaffirmed that the coalition led by Saudi Arabia "will not deviate from its goals for the benefit of Yemen and its honorable people."

This statement came during his meeting with Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, who visited the Joint Forces Command following the recent attack in Sayun that resulted in the deaths of two coalition officers.

According to the official Yemeni news agency Saba, Al-Salman emphasized that the "treacherous act" does not represent the honorable members of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, who appreciate the positive and vital role the coalition forces play in supporting Yemen’s legitimacy and humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Dr. Al-Alimi expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the coalition for the "terrorist and heinous attack" that led to the martyrdom of a Saudi officer and the injury of another while they were fulfilling their duties to train and support Yemeni forces in the First Military Region in Sayun.

He noted that such cowardly acts reflect only on their perpetrators and do not represent the honorable members of the Yemeni armed forces, who value the significant contributions of the coalition forces and their sacrifices alongside the Yemeni people.

Al-Alimi stressed that these incidents cannot affect the strong relationship between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, which has been solidified by blood and unwavering brotherly stances.

On November 8, two Saudi officers were killed and another injured by gunfire from Sergeant Muhammad Saleh Al-Arousi at a coalition camp in Sayun, prompting the Yemeni government to mobilize security and military forces to apprehend the suspect, who fled the scene.
