On November 10, 2024, reports emerged confirming the death of another leader from the Iranian-backed Hezbollah in an Israeli airstrike days earlier. This individual, identified as Ali Adel Ashmar (also known as Mahdi), was noted for his role as a military advisor to the Houthi militia in Yemen.

According to Yemeni journalist and researcher Adnan Al-Jabarni, Ashmar was among those smuggled into Yemen to provide military consultation and support to the Houthis, who are classified as a terrorist group. Al-Jabarni stated in a post on X (seen by Barran Press) that Ashmar was a significant figure among the Houthis, having been one of their longest-serving advisors.

Al-Jabarni further detailed Ashmar's involvement in leading operations during the Houthi assault on the city of Amran, noting his presence in the Al-Ghoula area of Amran Governorate. He also highlighted Ashmar's engagement in battles to capture regions in Hamdan, advancing towards the capital, Sana'a, in late 2014.

This marks the second Hezbollah commander linked to Houthi battles in Yemen to be killed by Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon. On October 21, 2024, another leader, Basel Shukr, was also reported killed in an Israeli strike targeting a Hezbollah position. Local media circulated images of Shukr participating in the Houthi's military efforts against Yemeni forces, including violent clashes in the Marib Governorate.

Hezbollah has played a crucial role in training and supporting the Houthi movement since its inception, particularly during the six wars against the Yemeni state in Saada Governorate from 2004 to 2010. Following the Houthis' takeover of Sana'a in late 2014, Hezbollah sent numerous experts to train Houthi fighters and provide direct military support.

In recent years, leaked recordings have surfaced showing Hezbollah leaders conducting training sessions for Houthi elements in Sana'a, further evidencing the group's extensive military backing, including financial and logistical support.

Since 2015, the conflicts involving the Houthis have been a recurring theme in the speeches of Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who often highlights the significant implications of the battle for Marib, stating that its outcome could dramatically alter the regional landscape.

In April 2024, Marib Governor Sheikh Sultan Al-Aradah confirmed in a televised interview that Hezbollah's leader was involved in sending fighters to support the Houthis in Yemen, framing this intervention as part of Iran's strategy to establish proxies across the Arab world.
