The Arab-Islamic summit convened in the Saudi capital on November 11, 2024, to discuss a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to Saudi news channel Al-Ekhbariya, the summit is expected to produce a unanimously agreed final statement from the 57 participating countries. This gathering serves as a continuation of the joint Arab-Islamic summit held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023, as stated by the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that diplomatic sources indicated the summit would likely discuss concrete measures aimed at implementing decisions made during the 2023 summit, including halting Israeli attacks on Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and other regional nations.
One of the key outcomes from last year’s summit was the establishment of a contact group for Gaza, comprising Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Palestine, Indonesia, and Nigeria. This group continues its efforts to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and work towards a two-state solution.
