The National Meteorological Center issued a warning on November 13, 2024, regarding severe cold weather expected over the coming hours in five Yemeni governorates. Farmers are urged to take precautions to protect their crops as temperatures are set to drop significantly.
In its daily report reviewed by Barran Press, the center indicated that mountainous regions, particularly in Saada, Amran, Sana'a, Dhamar, and Al-Bayda, will experience cold to very cold conditions, with minimum temperatures ranging between 2 to 6 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, colder weather is expected in the highlands of Ibb, Al-Dhale, Abyan, and Lahij, where nighttime and early morning temperatures may fall between 5 to 10 degrees Celsius. The day is forecasted to be mostly clear to partly cloudy, with a chance of scattered rain in parts of Hajjah, Al-Mahwit, Raymah, Ibb, and Taiz.
The coastal areas are likely to see partly cloudy skies and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 25 knots, leading to rough seas and elevated waves in the southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the western Gulf of Aden.
In desert regions, clear to slightly cool night conditions are expected, with low cloud formation during the day and moderate to occasionally brisk winds stirring up dust and sand.
The center urged farmers, beekeepers, and livestock herders to take necessary measures to safeguard their agricultural produce. It also advised the public, especially children, school students, the elderly, and night workers, to take precautions against the cold weather.
