On November 13, 2024, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced the distribution of 1,900 shelters for displaced families across five camps in Marib Governorate, northeastern Yemen.

The five camps—Al-Noor, Al-Sit, Al-Hamah, Al-Khasif, and Al-Ramsah—are funded by the UN Central Emergency Response Fund, as reported by the official Saba News Agency.

Khaled Al-Shajani, assistant director of the executive unit for managing displacement camps in the province, noted that the gap in housing needs is substantial and widening daily. Thousands of displaced families are suffering from inadequate shelter amid harsh living conditions, particularly with the onset of the cold winter months.

According to the latest report from the sub-cluster for shelter in Marib, approximately 24,500 displaced families are living in deteriorating emergency shelters for over five years and urgently require durable housing solutions. The cluster's plan for 2024 aimed to provide only 3,500 transitional shelters.

The recent needs matrix indicates that 9,236 families currently reside in old or incomplete mud structures, with some in transitional shelters, all requiring maintenance support.

Additionally, data from the displacement tracking unit highlights that 33,547 families are at serious risk of eviction from rented apartments due to accumulating overdue rents and worsening economic conditions, underscoring the urgent need for rental assistance.

The report also noted that 64 displaced families moved from rented apartments to camps in October, while 263 families made similar moves in September.

Throughout the first nine months of this year, reports tracked 1,180 displaced families, totaling 6,334 individuals, arriving in Marib from various provinces, indicating a continued rise in displacement.
