A rights center reported on November 15, 2024, that a man in his sixties died as a result of torture in a Houthi prison after being abducted for a week.
According to a statement from the Rased Center for Rights and Development, 65-year-old Hussein Al-Lasheb died Thursday in a Houthi facility in the Al-Malajim district of Al-Bayda province, central Yemen.
Rased condemned the incident as a "crime against humanity that violates all international laws and norms," describing it as a stark example of the ongoing human rights violations in areas controlled by the Houthi group.
The rights organization called for an independent and transparent investigation into the incident, urging the international community and human rights organizations to intervene urgently to uncover the facts and hold those responsible accountable.
Official government reports indicate that over 350 cases of death due to torture have been documented among 1,635 cases of torture in Houthi-run detention centers since the group’s takeover in 2014.
