On Monday, November 18, 2024, the Marib General Conference held its first session to announce its administrative structure, including the presidency, general secretariat, departments, and the oversight and inspection committee. Abdulhaq Ali Al-Qabali was named the president of the conference.
The meeting, held in Marib and attended by a "Baraan Press" correspondent, emphasized that the conference is a national entity, born and developed in Yemen, encompassing all entities supporting legitimacy in the governorate.
In its closing statement, the Marib General Conference called on the Yemeni government to "swiftly implement real solutions to halt economic deterioration and stop the collapse of the national currency."
The statement stressed the importance of enforcing the agreement reached between the Presidential Leadership Council and the UN envoy, which involved halting decisive Central Bank decisions and demanding the cessation of Soviet withdrawals and the relocation of bank headquarters to Aden in exchange for allowing the export of oil and gas.
The Marib General Conference asserted that implementing this agreement is "the guarantee for reviving the national economy and supporting the local currency," appreciating the political parties and national forces' step of announcing the National Coalition in Aden on November 6.
The conference emphasized its primary goal of unity, not only at the governorate level but across the entire Republic of Yemen, supporting national alignment to restore the republic and end the oppressive Houthi coup.
The conference also praised the Yemeni governorates that have begun unifying their internal ranks and political and tribal forces to support legitimacy, restore the republic, and end the Houthi coup.
Additionally, the Marib General Conference called for the swift unification of military and security decisions and the integration of all military and security formations into the Ministries of Defense and Interior, following the Yemeni constitution and the outcomes of the Riyadh consultations.
The conference affirmed that "any upcoming settlement must be based on the three references (the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, the Gulf Initiative, and its executive mechanism, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216)," expressing gratitude to the Arab coalition countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, for their support of Yemen in general and Marib in particular.
The closing statement announced the leadership structure of the Marib General Conference, with Abdulhaq Ali Al-Qabali Nimran as president for the first term, and four deputies: Ahmed Al-Basha Zuba, Mohammed Mohsen Al-Tawil bin Hazim, Mohammed Saleh Farhan bin Jalal, and Mohammed Ali Al-Omari.
The general secretariat includes five members: Abdulkarim Hamad Mohsen bin Haidar as Secretary-General, Mohammed Ali Ali Al-Qardaei as Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Fadl Nasser Saleh Al-Hayal as Assistant Secretary-General for Tribal Affairs, Nasser bin Nasser Kallan as Assistant Secretary-General for Media and Culture, and Osama Abdulrab Al-Shaddadi as Assistant Secretary-General for Mobilization and Frontline Support.
