On November 20, 2024, the U.S. Embassy in Yemen announced the opening of submissions for the "2025 U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation" competition. This initiative aims to support projects that preserve Yemen's unique cultural heritage.
In a post on X, the embassy expressed its enthusiasm alongside the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, inviting proposals for the 2025 grant cycle. The application process consists of two rounds. The first round requires submission of project ideas in the form of concept notes, due to the U.S. Embassy in Yemen by January 17, 2025. Selected applicants will then be invited to submit full project proposals by April 15, 2025.
Funding awards will range from $10,000 to $500,000 per project, with the State Department aiming to support 20 to 30 projects globally from eligible countries.
Applications must be submitted electronically to [email protected] with "AFCP" in the subject line by the January deadline. Printed submissions will not be accepted, and failure to include all required information will result in automatic disqualification of the proposal.
The AFCP program is dedicated to preserving archaeological sites, historic buildings, museum collections, and traditional cultural expressions, including languages and indigenous crafts. Since its inception in 2001, the U.S. Ambassadors Fund has played a critical role in safeguarding cultural heritage in Yemen and around the world.
