On November 21, 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the ICC indicated that there is credible evidence suggesting that both Netanyahu and Gallant oversaw attacks on civilian populations. The charges include the weaponization of starvation and acts of violence against civilians, such as killings and persecution.

The court noted that Israel's acceptance of its jurisdiction is not a prerequisite for these actions, asserting that publicizing the arrest warrants serves the interests of the victims.

In addition to the warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant, the ICC also issued an arrest order for Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas's military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has been accused of committing acts of genocide in Gaza, resulting in over 148,000 Palestinian casualties, the majority of whom are women and children. Reports indicate more than 10,000 individuals are missing, amid widespread devastation and famine that have claimed the lives of many, including the elderly and children, marking one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
