Sana'a, Yemen – On November 21, 2024, local sources reported a significant fire at the Shamlan Hypermarket in the Shamlan area, located in the northern part of the capital, Sana'a, which is under Houthi control.

Witnesses told Barran Press that the fire rapidly spread throughout the commercial complex, exacerbated by the delayed response of civil defense teams, despite being notified immediately. Initial reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, leading to substantial material losses across various sections of the hypermarket.

As of now, it remains unclear whether there have been any casualties. Social media users shared videos showing the blaze engulfing parts of the hypermarket and thick smoke rising into the air, as crowds of onlookers gathered, anxiously awaiting the arrival of firefighting equipment to extinguish the flames.
