On November 21, 2024, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the internationally recognized Prime Minister of Yemen, reaffirmed his commitment to combating corruption, stating that "no one will be protected regardless of their job position." This declaration came after he referred a new case involving corruption to the Attorney General for investigation.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), bin Mubarak emphasized that the referral is part of ongoing efforts to uphold transparency and accountability as fundamental principles rather than mere slogans. He asserted that the government, alongside judicial and oversight bodies, will pursue this path without leniency, ensuring that anyone found involved in embezzlement or financial and administrative corruption will face justice.

Earlier in the day, a source from the Prime Minister's office revealed that bin Mubarak had formally notified the Attorney General about violations committed by the executive director of the Oil Investment Company, including failure to protect public assets and unauthorized negotiations related to the operation of an oil sector.

The source explained that the letter included a comprehensive file of the alleged infractions, leading to the initiation of an investigation. The Prime Minister's commitment to safeguarding public funds and fighting all forms of corruption was reiterated as a top priority.

He stressed that the judiciary is the ultimate authority in these matters, ensuring that no individual is above accountability or the law.

On November 12, bin Mubarak also referred the case of the Aden Refinery to the Attorney General, emphasizing the need for ongoing oversight and accountability measures following reviews by the Central Organization for Control and Auditing of 12 government institutions.

He directed relevant ministries and institutions to respond to the findings in the audit reports and to refer serious violations to public prosecution for accountability. Additionally, he insisted that the government will not tolerate any entity that fails to provide its financial data for review, reinforcing the commitment to transparency and responsibility in addressing financial and administrative irregularities.
