Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – On November 21, 2024, a meeting between Aidarus al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and head of the Southern Transitional Council, and a delegation from the Yemeni Islah Party underscored the necessity of continuous coordination to resolve differences and unify efforts in building a strong national foundation. The aim is to direct collective energies toward liberating Yemen from what they described as a "sectarian, authoritarian project."

According to the official Islah website, the party's delegation included prominent figures such as Deputy Abdul Razak al-Hajri, members Ahmed al-Qumairi and Anssaf Mayo, and Acting Head of the Foreign Relations Office Ibrahim al-Shami.

The meeting addressed various issues and recent developments in the local landscape. Participants emphasized the importance of state institutions addressing economic and living conditions, improving services, and alleviating the hardships faced by citizens.

Al-Zubaidi welcomed the delegation, highlighting the significance of unity and the need for ongoing communication and coordination to achieve these objectives. He stressed that restoring the state and ending the Houthi insurgency should be a priority for all political forces and components, requiring a unified stance.

In response, the Islah delegation reiterated the importance of the national forces supporting the legitimate government and unifying efforts to continue the national struggle against the Houthi movement and restore state authority.

They expressed satisfaction with the meeting, noting the importance of ongoing dialogue to serve the national interest and unify different factions to achieve significant goals while addressing the challenges posed by the Iran-backed militia project threatening Yemen and the broader Arab region.

As of early Friday morning, the Southern Transitional Council's media had not reported on the meeting, which took place in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. This gathering marks the first publicly acknowledged meeting between the Islah Party, the largest Yemeni party supporting the recognized government, and the head of the Southern Transitional Council, which advocates for separation.
