The General Secretariat of the Yemeni Football Federation announced on Saturday, November 23, 2024, that the election date for the federation's new leadership has been postponed to December 9, 2024.
The federation stated in a notice published on its official Facebook page, which was reviewed by Barran Press, that the election meeting originally scheduled for November 30 has been rescheduled. The delay is attributed to the recent death of the federation's former financial officer, Mohamed Al-Tawil, and the incomplete preparation of the final financial report that must be presented to the General Assembly during the election meeting.
The announcement noted that the postponement was coordinated with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The new election meeting will take place in Doha, Qatar, on December 9, 2024.
According to the federation, the agenda for the General Assembly meeting for the Yemeni Football Federation elections for the term 2024-2028 has been approved, with the election meeting set to commence at 10:00 AM on December 9 in Doha.
On November 9, the Higher Committee for the Yemeni Football Federation Elections announced the final list of candidates who met all specified criteria for the elections.
The Yemeni Football Federation clarified in a statement reviewed by Barran Press that the candidates have submitted the required documentation to participate in the elections, which were initially scheduled for November 30, 2024, in Doha.
