Aden, Yemen – On Sunday, November 24, 2024, the Specialized Criminal Prosecution in Aden, Yemen's declared temporary capital, issued a mandatory arrest order for Ali Mohammed Al-Sayya, the recently dismissed Deputy Director of the Counter-Terrorism Unit.
According to a memorandum sent to the Security Belt Forces in Aden and the relevant law enforcement authorities, the prosecution directed the apprehension of Al-Sayya, who resides in the Inma neighborhood, stating he is "involved in a gang conducting assassinations and bombings."
The Specialized Criminal Prosecution accused Al-Sayya of collaborating with a cell led by Khalid Amjad, characterized as a "terrorist," based on investigations involving individuals apprehended recently.
Earlier on the same day, judicial sources reported that Rashad Al-Alimi, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and the Supreme Commander of the Yemeni Armed Forces, issued a presidential decree dismissing an intelligence official from the Counter-Terrorism Unit and referring him for investigation.
According to an official document reviewed by Bran Press, Al-Alimi signed the decree on November 19, which relieved Ali Mohammed Al-Sayya from his position as Deputy for Intelligence Affairs in the Counter-Terrorism Unit. The decree also annulled Decision No. (59) of 2024 regarding Al-Sayya's appointment, canceled all decisions related to his promotion or appointment and referred him for investigation.
