Mareb, Yemen – On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Safer Exploration and Production Company announced the launch of its submersible pump (ESP) project at Well Unit 2, with an estimated production capacity of approximately 800 barrels of crude oil per day.

In a statement reported by the official Yemeni news agency Saba, Safer's CEO, Salem Kaity, noted that this project marks the first phase of efforts to revive several dormant wells that had suffered from declining pressure, bringing them back into production.

Kaity emphasized that the initiation of this phase "will lead to improved oil production in Sector 18." He added that the project aligns with the company's vision and is being closely monitored by the Ministry of Oil and Minerals, with support from the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to advance the oil sector.

Safer is one of Yemen's key oil facilities and operates under the control of the internationally recognized Yemeni government. However, its activities have significantly declined in recent years due to Houthi attacks.

Currently, the company's production mainly focuses on supplying gasoline and domestic gas for local consumption, as well as operating the electricity station in Aden, Yemen's temporary capital.
