Ramallah, West Bank – On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stated that "resolving the Palestinian issue" is the "only path" to achieving stability in the region.

In a speech delivered on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the text of which was published by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Abbas emphasized that the primary reason for the lack of security and stability in the Middle East is the existence of Israeli occupation.

He asserted that "no matter the might and brutality of the occupation, it is destined to end." Abbas underscored that the only way to halt the dangerous escalation currently affecting the region and to maintain regional and international security and peace is through addressing the Palestinian issue.

The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People has been commemorated annually since 1977, following a United Nations General Assembly resolution that designated November 29 as a day to recognize the Palestinian struggle, coinciding with the anniversary of the 1947 UN resolution 181, which called for the partition of Palestine into "Arab" and "Jewish" states.
