The Yemeni Ministry of Communications and Information Technology announced on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the commencement of Phase Two of the comprehensive expansion plan for the "AdenNet" network, aimed at enhancing its infrastructure.

In a statement published by the official Saba news agency, the ministry indicated that this initiative aligns with the government's vision to improve telecommunications and internet services with high quality and competitive pricing, following directives from the President and members of the Presidential Leadership Council.

The ministry's statement noted that technical teams have begun their work under the new deployment plan, which focuses on improving service quality and expanding coverage areas.

Phase Two of the expansion will encompass several regions within the temporary capital of Aden, as well as additional provinces and cities, as part of a previously prepared comprehensive plan. The ministry anticipates completing this phase within the next two months, which is expected to double the number of subscribers to the fourth-generation "AdenNet" network by 100%.

The statement also acknowledged the support of the United Arab Emirates in enhancing and developing the telecommunications sector and infrastructure in liberated provinces, emphasizing that this support is crucial for implementing quality projects that contribute to digital transformation and bolster the national economy.

In September 2021, the Ministry of Communications initiated Phase One of the "AdenNet" expansion project, which included opening registration for new subscribers to the fourth-generation internet service. "AdenNet" began offering fourth-generation internet services in early 2019, but after over six years since its launch, the service has primarily remained limited to the city of Aden.
