On Thursday, November 28, 2024, an elderly man was killed and his son and driver injured in a tribal revenge shooting that has its roots in a nearly 30-year-old feud in Marib province, northeastern Yemen.

According to a tribal source who spoke to Barran Press, 70-year-old Hamad bin Mohammed Mu'aili Al-Abeidi was shot dead by armed tribal members who ambushed him in the Al-Ja'ashiya area of Marib Al-Wadi district.

The source confirmed that the attack also left his son, Amin Hamad Mohammed Mu'aili, and the driver, Mufrah bin Hamad Zabar, wounded. The assailants are reportedly members of the Dhamashqa tribe.

The source added that intermittent clashes have erupted between the Al-Rashed Muneef and Dhamashqa tribes following the killing of Hamad bin Mu'aili, highlighting the ongoing tensions stemming from this long-standing tribal dispute.
