On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the Islah Party (Yemeni Congregation for Reform) highlighted the need for renewed attention on the city of Aden, Yemen's temporary capital, to restore its political and economic significance. This call comes as residents face increasing hardships, necessitating improved services and living conditions.

In a statement monitored by Barran Press to mark the 57th anniversary of Yemen's Independence Day (November 30, 1967), Islah's Aden branch emphasized the government's responsibility to address the dire economic and living conditions affecting the populace. The statement criticized the decline in service levels, the devaluation of the national currency, delayed salary payments, rising prices, and the alarming increase in poverty.

The party stated, "Celebrating November 30, a cherished occasion for Yemenis, reaffirms our commitment to the principles of struggle and the goals of the revolution, honoring the sacrifices of martyrs and revolutionaries across our beloved homeland."

Islah called for drawing inspiration from the national struggle to strengthen unity and address the dangers and challenges facing the Yemeni people, particularly the Houthi insurgency, which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization. The party urged a concerted effort to restore the Yemeni state and its national institutions.

Tomorrow, Yemenis will celebrate the 57th anniversary of the departure of the last British soldier from the south, a culmination of the people's struggles against authoritarianism in the north and British occupation in the south. On November 30, 1967, the last British soldier left Aden after 129 years of colonial rule, following four years of the 14 October Revolution led by revolutionary Rajeh bin Ghalib Labouza.
