On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, a 40-year-old Yemeni fisherman was shot dead by a soldier from the "National Shield" forces in a market in the al-Mudharabah and Ras al-Ara area of Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen.
According to medical sources speaking to Barran Press, the victim, Raed Fahmi Ibrahim Othman, was killed in the Ras al-Ara market when a soldier from the National Shield Brigade opened fire on him. The assailant, who was reportedly in a military vehicle, fled the scene immediately after the incident.
An official security source confirmed that the suspect, identified as (A.A.), surrendered to a joint security campaign in the district hours after the shooting. This came following a swift and effective response from security forces, who moved quickly to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The security leadership has initiated the necessary legal procedures to investigate the case and ensure the suspect is handed over to the relevant authorities, aiming to uphold justice in accordance with the law.
