On December 10, 2024, Abdullah Alimi, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, engaged in discussions aimed at rallying further international support for the Yemeni government's economic efforts. His meeting with the British Ambassador to Yemen, Abda Shereef, focused on the economic ramifications of the Houthi attacks and the government's ongoing reforms and anti-corruption initiatives.

Alimi praised the UK's humanitarian and developmental interventions across various sectors, as reported by the official Saba News Agency. He reiterated the council's commitment to a fair and comprehensive peace, urging the Houthis to reconsider their position and learn from the recent experiences of other countries in the region to prevent further bloodshed and destruction in Yemen.

He called on the Houthis to view the current situation as an opportunity for introspection and to pursue genuine peace by transforming into a political party, thus averting additional national disasters.

Additionally, Alimi emphasized the importance of halting the Israeli aggression in Gaza and congratulated the Syrian people on their recent victories in freeing themselves from Iranian dominance, affirming their right to establish a new civil state.

In response, Ambassador Shereef affirmed the UK’s support for the Yemeni government and its efforts across various fronts, noting that they are working to garner more international backing for the Yemeni administration. She commended the ongoing peace initiatives in Yemen, reiterating her country’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council and Yemen’s security, unity, and stability.
