On December 11, 2024, security sources reported that one soldier was killed and two others injured in a hit-and-run incident involving a military ambulance at a security checkpoint operated by the Southern Transitional Council in the Al-Musaymir district, northern Lahij province, southern Yemen.
According to the sources, the incident occurred at a checkpoint known as "Al-Tanan," where soldiers were conducting a routine inspection of a civilian vehicle. The military ambulance, belonging to the 13th Sa'eqa Brigade (a unit of the Southern Transitional Council), struck the soldiers, resulting in the death of Private Abdu Hamadi and injuries to soldiers Fahd Fadl and Abdu Harsh.
The driver of the ambulance sustained injuries and, along with the other wounded personnel, was transported to Ibn Khaldun Hospital in Al-Houta, the provincial capital.
Activists shared images from the scene of the incident, but security authorities have not released an official statement regarding the cause of the accident or whether it was accidental.
