On December 12, 2024, the Meteorological and Early Warning Center of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology in Yemen forecasted that cold, dry weather would persist, particularly during the night and early morning hours in mountainous regions, where fog and frost are likely to form.
In its daily weather report, monitored by Barran Press, the center indicated that coastal areas would experience mild temperatures, with conditions ranging from clear to partly cloudy. There is a possibility of scattered rainfall over the Socotra Archipelago, along with light to moderate winds expected to strengthen around Bab al-Mandab, Meyun Island, and the western coasts.
The report also noted that desert and inland plateau areas would see generally clear weather, with moderate daytime temperatures and cold to very cold conditions at night and in the early morning, accompanied by light to moderate winds.
The center provided the following maximum and minimum temperatures for several provinces on Thursday: Aden 30°C/22°C, Sana'a 21°C/1°C, Mukalla 29°C/19°C, Socotra 30°C/19°C, Al-Ghaydah 31°C/18°C, Say'un 28°C/11°C, Taiz 26°C/10°C, Al-Dhale'e 26°C/8°C, Marib 25°C/11°C, Ataq 24°C/10°C, Lahij 31°C/18°C, Al-Hudaydah 31°C/22°C, and Zinjibar 30°C/22°C.
The center warned residents in high-altitude areas to prepare for low temperatures, particularly protecting children and the elderly. It also cautioned farmers in mountainous regions about the potential impact of extremely low temperatures and frost on their crops.
