On December 12, 2024, an extraordinary session of the Arab League convened to adopt a unified Arab position regarding the extensive Israeli aggression against the Syrian Arab Republic and the incursion of occupation forces into Syrian territory.

The meeting, chaired by Yemen's chargé d'affaires to the Arab League, Ambassador Ali Moussa, addressed the ongoing situation following recent military actions. According to the Yemeni news agency Saba, the council issued a resolution reaffirming Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, regional security, and Arab identity, in accordance with the charters of both the Arab League and the United Nations.

The resolution condemned Israel's incursions into the demilitarized zone and adjacent areas in the Golan Heights and Quneitra province, describing these actions as an additional occupation of Syrian land that violates the disengagement agreement signed in 1974 and represents a clear breach of UN Security Council resolutions.

The decision emphasized the continued validity of the disengagement agreement under international law and called on the United Nations to fulfill its responsibilities under the agreement and take immediate action to halt Israeli violations of its terms.

Additionally, the resolution denounced the recent Israeli airstrikes on several civilian and military sites in Syria, rejecting statements from Israeli officials regarding the Golan Heights being an integral part of Israel.

The Arab League urged its member states at the United Nations and in their respective capitals to take action to express the Arab position against Israeli expansionism, demanding that Israel comply with international legitimacy concerning the Golan Heights and cease altering the demographic and legal status of the occupied Syrian territories.

Notably, on December 8, Israeli forces penetrated several kilometers into the Syrian Golan and seized the Syrian military site at Mount Sheikh after the departure of Assad's troops.
