In the early hours of December 16, 2024, U.S. forces conducted an airstrike targeting a site associated with the Houthi movement, which is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization, in Hajjah province, northwestern Yemen.

According to Houthi media, the strike was carried out by “U.S.-British aircraft” in the Bhais area of the coastal Midi district in Hajjah. Details regarding the specific target and the outcomes of the airstrike were not provided. This attack followed another airstrike earlier targeting the Al-Tuhayta district in the coastal province of Al-Hudaydah.

Most of Hajjah province is under Houthi control and includes the Midi seaport, which shares a land border with Saudi Arabia.

Since the beginning of 2024, a U.S.-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes aimed at “Houthi positions” across various regions of Yemen in response to the group's Iranian-backed attacks on commercial shipping vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf.
