On December 16, 2024, Brigadier General Mohammed bin Rasiyeh, the Chief of Staff of the Sixth Military Region of the Yemeni army, announced that his forces are fully prepared for any military developments aimed at reclaiming Al-Jawf Province in northeastern Yemen.

This statement came during a reconnaissance tour of military positions on the eastern front of the province, as reported by the Yemeni army’s media center.

General bin Rasiyeh emphasized that the national army is highly ready to engage in a decisive battle to recover territories from the Houthi movement, which is internationally designated as a terrorist organization.

During his visit, he held a meeting with the leadership of the division and its branches, where he stressed the importance of maintaining high readiness and vigilance, as well as further preparations at all levels to execute assigned missions effectively.

Most of the populated areas of Al-Jawf Province have been under Houthi control since March 2020, following the unexpected withdrawal of Yemeni army forces, which allowed the group to seize significant territory, including the strategic Al-Nehm area.
