On December 17, 2024, the Yemeni Coast Guard announced the seizure of 5,795 kilograms of narcotics valued at approximately $4 million, which were reportedly en route to the Houthi militia, designated as a terrorist organization.

In a statement released by the Security Media, the Coast Guard detailed that an international patrol boat intercepted a smuggling vessel in the international shipping lane. The authorities discovered 5,613 kilograms of hashish, 181 kilograms of heroin, and 1 kilogram of methamphetamine on board.

According to the Coast Guard's statement, the suspicious ship was intercepted in late November, and upon inspection, the significant quantities of drugs were found. This operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region and prevent supplies from reaching the Houthis.
