Local sources reported on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, that a young man was fatally shot by a member of the Houthi group, internationally designated as a terrorist organization, in Taizzia District, northern Taiz Governorate in southwestern Yemen.
According to sources speaking to "Barran Press," the victim, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Zaghrouri, who worked as a qat vendor, was killed at the "Al-Muhaysiss" checkpoint in the lower Hayma region of Taizzia District.
The sources identified the Houthi militant as "Musa Qaid Hamoud," who demanded a sum of money from Al-Zaghrouri. When Al-Zaghrouri was unable to pay, Hamoud immediately opened fire, killing him on the spot.
The lower Hayma area, under Houthi control, has previously seen clashes between residents and Houthi fighters over the group's abuses, particularly regarding the forceful imposition of taxes.
