On December 21, 2024, the Marib Governorate celebrated the opening of a new branch of Al-Qutaibi Islamic Microfinance Bank, bringing the total number of banks in the oil-rich province to 13.

Abdullah Al-Bakri, the deputy governor for administrative affairs, inaugurated the branch along with Ziad Al-Salwi, the deputy director of the Central Bank in the province. They toured the facility and received a briefing from the branch director about the range of services that will be offered to clients, emphasizing the bank’s role in financial development and national economic growth.

According to the official Saba news agency, Al-Bakri noted that additional bank branches are in the pipeline for future openings. He reassured that local authorities are committed to providing all necessary support and incentives for both national and foreign banks, recognizing their critical role in fostering development and strengthening the national economy.

With the launch of Al-Qutaibi Bank, Marib's financial sector is set to play a more significant role in the region's development and reconstruction efforts.
