On December 21, 2024, the Hadhramaut Tribes Alliance held a significant armed display in Hadhramaut province, eastern Yemen, commemorating the 11th anniversary of the so-called "Hadhramaut Popular Uprising."

In a statement obtained by Barran Press, the alliance highlighted that this show of force was meant to honor the uprising's legacy. The armed tribes showcased an array of vehicles equipped with various medium-grade weapons, gathered on the Hadhramaut plateau where the alliance maintains its tribal camps.

Since July 31, the Hadhramaut Tribes Alliance has ramped up its pressure against the government and the Presidential Leadership Council by establishing new military posts across the province, demanding a fair share of the region's oil wealth.

During the event, Sheikh Amr bin Habreesh al-Ali, president of the Hadhramaut Tribes Alliance and leader of the Hadhramaut Comprehensive Conference, emphasized the rights of the people of Hadhramaut, asserting their desire to be a significant player in the political landscape.

"Today, the people of Hadhramaut are a force on their land, rightful and lawful," he declared, underscoring their commitment to safeguarding state resources and combating terrorism. He noted that some have resisted Hadhramaut's independent stance in decision-making processes.

Bin Habreesh also stated that the region would no longer tolerate delays and neglect regarding its legitimate demands and would begin implementing solutions. He stressed that the Hadhramaut community seeks self-governance and deserves recognition and respect.

Furthermore, Sheikh Bin Habreesh instructed the alliance's security committee, led by Mubarak al-Obthani, to take practical steps toward recruitment efforts and ensure that the alliance meets the aspirations of the people.
