The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued a stark warning on December 22, 2024, alerting farmers in Yemen's highland regions about the potential impact of severe cold and frost on their crops.

In its weather bulletin, the center emphasized that cold to extremely cold conditions will persist in the mountainous areas, particularly during the night and early morning hours, with a likelihood of fog and frost formation in certain areas.

While the coastal regions are expected to experience generally mild weather, scattered rain is forecasted for the Socotra archipelago and the eastern and southern coasts, with conditions ranging from clear to partly cloudy.

The center also noted that the desert and inland plateau areas will see mostly clear weather with moderate daytime temperatures, but it will be cold to very cold at night and in the early morning, with light to moderate winds.

Temperatures are projected to drop to 0.3°C in Dhamar, 2°C in Amran, and 3°C in the capital, Sana'a. Other areas like Seyoun will see temperatures around 6°C, while Taiz, Al-Dhale'e, and A'taq in Shabwa will reach about 10°C. In Marib, temperatures are expected to be around 9°C, with other provinces experiencing a range of 15°C to 20°C.

The center urged residents in the mountainous areas to take necessary precautions against the low temperatures, particularly for children and the elderly.
