In a tragic incident on December 23, 2024, a four-year-old boy was killed and three other children from the same family were injured when Houthi forces, classified as a terrorist organization, shelled a home in the village of Al-Bomiyah, west of Taiz, Yemen.
Local sources reported that the Houthi militia directly targeted the residence with a mortar shell, resulting in the death of the child, Dib Bakr Qaid Mahyoub. The injured siblings—Shaima Bakr Qaid Mahyoub, 6, Meryal Bakr Qaid Mahyoub, 8, and Abdul Haq Ali Qaid Mahyoub, 3—sustained shrapnel injuries and were rushed to the field hospital in Hays for treatment.
This incident marks the second attack by Houthi forces on residents of Al-Bomiyah in just one month, raising concerns about the ongoing violence in the region.
In recent weeks, Houthi militants have intensified their assaults on army positions across various fronts in Taiz, coinciding with continuous military buildup and fortifications around the city.
