On December 23, 2024, Yemeni businessman and member of parliament Hamid Al-Ahmar stated that the Houthi movement has squandered a "precious" opportunity for peace, asserting that their recent military mobilizations and reckless rhetoric will not alter the inevitable decision to end their coup.

In a post on X (monitored by Barran Press), Al-Ahmar shared insights after his visit to Riyadh, which he referred to as the "capital of Arab decision-making." During his stay, he met with various Yemeni leaders in response to public demands to restore the state and end the Houthi takeover.

Al-Ahmar emphasized that the Houthis have demonstrated a lack of commitment to a peaceful resolution, forfeiting a significant chance for peace that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has earnestly sought to facilitate.

He added, "The military mobilizations and reckless statements from the Houthis will not change the definitive decision to end their coup; instead, they will only increase the costs associated with this resolution."

The parliamentarian also noted a shift in the international community's stance, asserting that past objections to the liberation of the port of Hodeidah and the advance of the national army toward Sana’a will not be repeated.

He pointed out the unprecedented levels of discontent and unrest among Yemenis in Houthi-controlled areas, warning that the continued policy of suppression and violence will only exacerbate tensions.

In conclusion, Al-Ahmar expressed unwavering confidence in the eventual downfall of the Houthi regime, regardless of the circumstances, emphasizing that the current challenge lies in minimizing potential societal costs in the days to come.

Recently, Riyadh has witnessed extensive diplomatic activity, including a series of meetings between the President and members of the Presidential Leadership Council with ambassadors from the United States, Britain, and France, as well as the commander of the joint operations of the Arab coalition supporting the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
