On December 24, 2024, the Yemeni army reported that 23 members of the Houthi group, classified internationally as a terrorist organization, were killed or wounded during a failed attack west of Taiz city in southwestern Yemen.

In a statement obtained by "Barran Press," the Taiz military command revealed that eight Houthis were killed and 15 others injured in an unsuccessful attempt to breach army positions in the air defense front to the northwest of the city.

Military sources indicated that clashes erupted late Monday night between Yemeni forces and Houthi militants, following an infiltration attempt by the Iran-backed group.

The fighting, which involved heavy and medium weaponry, lasted over two hours and resulted in significant casualties among the Houthis. Local sources reported seeing Houthi ambulances transporting the wounded to Al-Rifai Hospital, situated between the conflict areas and the Houthi-controlled Hawban region.

In recent days, the Yemeni army has thwarted three infiltration attempts by Houthi fighters and repelled an assault on one of the province's fronts.

The Taiz military media center noted that these confrontations coincided with Houthi drone attacks targeting residential neighborhoods and villages in the western rural areas of Taiz.
