Yemeni Army Claims Control of Strategic Positions Amid Ongoing Clashes in Taiz

In a significant development, the Yemeni Army announced on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, that it has successfully captured two strategic military positions in Taiz province, located in southwestern Yemen. This comes after intense clashes with Houthi forces, who are internationally designated as a terrorist group.

According to the Yemeni Ministry of Defense’s website, "September Net," the army secured the pivotal heights of "Aerial" and "Zabia," situated northwest of the city of Taiz. This advance followed a series of counterattacks against Houthi strongholds near the city’s air defense area, which led to a mass retreat of Houthi fighters.

Military sources reported that the fierce confrontations resulted in the deaths of eight Houthis and injuries to at least 15 others, alongside significant material losses for the group.

In a simultaneous effort, the Yemeni Army successfully repelled Houthi assaults on its positions in the "Oseifera" front, also north of Taiz. Following this defense, the army launched a counteroffensive, pushing back the Houthis and advancing towards 40th Street, where they secured several buildings previously occupied by Houthi militants.

Furthermore, the army thwarted another Houthi attack in the western rural areas of the province, specifically in the "Al-Ahtob" front in the Al-Maqbana district, forcing the militants to retreat once again.
