In a troubling development, a prominent businessman has been kidnapped for the second time in Sana’a, Yemen. Human rights sources reported on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, that Maher Abdullah Qaid Al-Sad'i was abducted by Houthi militia leader Saeed Masfouh, also known as "Abu Hail," from the Inspector General’s office in the capital.
Lawyer Waddah Qutaish shared the alarming news on Facebook, reviewed by Barran Press, revealing that Al-Sad'i, who is embroiled in a legal dispute with his cousins in the Southwest Amanat Court, was summoned by Houthi leader Abu Abdullah Al-Razami. After refusing to comply with Al-Razami’s directives regarding his case, Al-Sad'i was ambushed and kidnapped on December 1, and held captive in a container for over ten days.
Upon his release, Al-Sad'i sought to recover his vehicle and belongings that had been stolen during his captivity. The prosecutor’s office requested the police department act on the matter, but the response was lackluster, prompting Al-Sad'i to file a complaint against security negligence at the Inspector General’s office.
Tragically, while presenting his complaint, Al-Sad'i was abducted again by armed men in a Toyota Land Cruiser, reportedly linked to Masfouh, and taken to an unknown location. His current whereabouts remain unknown, raising serious concerns about his safety and the state of justice in the region.
