In a statement to Bran Press, Abdu Shamlan, the Director of the Tax Office in Marib, northeastern Yemen, outlined ambitious plans to modernize the tax system and enhance revenue collection. He emphasized the importance of implementing automation to improve governance in tax collection.
Shamlan revealed that the office is working on strategies to increase revenue and tax rates, claiming that these efforts have already yielded results surpassing previous years.
He highlighted ongoing initiatives to develop electronic tools that align with current needs, alongside intensified efforts to address tax evasion. “We have conducted a comprehensive inventory of the city,” Shamlan stated, indicating a thorough approach to identifying tax dodgers.
The tax director urged local businesses and taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations, stressing that this would bolster the state's developmental resources. He also noted that the office has streamlined tax procedures to facilitate compliance.
