On December 26, 2024, Yemen’s internationally recognized government issued a stern warning to citizens and traders against engaging in illegal real estate transactions conducted by the Iran-backed Houthi group in Sana’a and other controlled areas.

In an official statement, Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani highlighted the alarming trend of Houthi leaders attempting to sell state-owned and illegally seized properties, describing it as a clear sign of their fear and instability following the decline of Iranian influence in the region.

Al-Eryani accused the Houthis of systematically looting the assets of dissenting citizens since their takeover, including homes and lands in Sana’a. He noted that the group has issued unlawful confiscation orders through their illegitimate judiciary and established unauthorized committees to manage these properties.

He declared that all transactions and documents related to property sales issued by the Houthi militia are invalid, as they stem from an illegitimate regime and bear no legal weight.

The minister warned that anyone involved in these transactions, whether committee members or individuals buying and selling these properties, would face legal and criminal accountability once the Houthi regime is dismantled. He asserted, "Sana’a and Yemen will soon return to their rightful owners, and the Houthis will not escape justice—truth always prevails."

Al-Eryani called on the international community and the United Nations to designate the Houthi militia as a global terrorist organization and to hold its leaders accountable in international courts for their crimes and violations against civilians.
