On December 27, 2024, sources within the Yemeni Ministry of Defense revealed that a presidential decision had been made to dismiss the Commander of the First Military Region, Major General Saleh Mohammed Tumays.

According to the sources speaking to Barran Press, Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, issued the unannounced decision to replace Tumays with Brigadier General Saleh Mohammed Abdu Rabbu Ahmed Al-Ju'ymilani, promoting him to the rank of Major General.

The former commander of the First Military Region, which encompasses parts of the Wadi and is centered in the city of Sayoun—Yemen's second-largest city in Hadramout—has now been appointed as Assistant Minister of Defense for Human Resources.

As of the time of this report (4 PM on Friday), the Yemeni News Agency Saba and other official media outlets have yet to publish the announcement regarding Al-Ju'ymilani's appointment as the new commander of the First Military Region.

Major General Saleh Mohammed Al-Ju'ymilani is recognized as one of the prominent military leaders in the Yemeni army. He was appointed as the commander of the Third Mountain Infantry Brigade in 2011 and later became the commander of the Third Presidential Protection Brigade in 2012 during the presidency of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, before the Hadi government's exit from the capital, Sana'a.

On November 29, 2021, Al-Ju'ymilani earned a fellowship from the Sudanese National Defense College with distinction, having discussed a thesis titled "Military Leadership of the Yemeni Republic in the Context of Restructuring the Armed Forces."
