On December 27, 2024, Marib province in northeastern Yemen held a solidarity rally in support of the Palestinian people, denouncing the ongoing atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza.

The participants issued a statement obtained by Barran Press, asserting that the events in Gaza are interconnected with broader transformations occurring across the Middle East, especially following Syria's liberation from authoritarian rule and the dawn of a new phase of organized resistance against colonial powers.

The rally emphasized that the harrowing scenes from Gaza communicate to the world—regardless of the length of occupation or attempts to whitewash its crimes—that it remains the true face of terrorism. It noted that peoples fighting for their freedom will continue to pay a high price due to the complicity of colonial powers and the silence of wavering regional governments.

The participants reiterated their unconditional support for the Palestinian struggle and the realization of all legitimate rights to freedom, human dignity, and the establishment of an independent state. They clarified that their demonstration was not merely a symbolic gesture driven by emotion, but a clear message that the Palestinian cause will remain a focal point of concern for both the government and the people until justice is achieved and the occupation ends.

The statement included strong condemnation directed at all relevant parties, including international institutions and organizations like the United Nations and the Human Rights Council, as well as the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, whose positions raise serious questions about their effectiveness and silence regarding ongoing crimes in Palestine.

It described the appalling sight of dogs devouring the bodies of martyrs in the streets as a reflection of extreme moral degradation and a complete absence of any semblance of the claimed humanity. This horrific image, documented by the media, will remain a stain on the conscience of the international community, which continues to remain silent in the face of these recurring tragedies.

The rally called on the United Nations, the Security Council, the International Criminal Court, and all relevant institutions to take immediate action to halt Israeli aggression and hold accountable those responsible for the daily war crimes against defenseless Palestinians. It also demanded the lifting of the unjust blockade, urgent humanitarian support, and protection for hospitals and medical personnel in Gaza as basic requirements for achieving humanitarian justice.

The statement urged world governments and humanitarian and human rights organizations to intensify solidarity campaigns in various forms and to activate effective political and diplomatic pressure to advocate for Palestinian rights, including supporting boycotts, divestments, and imposing sanctions on the occupying entity until it ceases its genocidal and ethnic cleansing campaigns.

For over a year, Marib has witnessed solidarity events for the Palestinian people in light of the brutal war waged against them by Israeli forces, with unprecedented support from the U.S. and Western nations. Hundreds of citizens from various social and political backgrounds, civil society organizations, and university students have participated in these protests.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with complete U.S. backing, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in over 145,000 Palestinian casualties, the majority being children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid widespread destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of many children and the elderly—marking one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.

Israel continues its massacres, ignoring the United Nations Security Council's calls for an immediate ceasefire and the International Court of Justice's orders to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
