On December 28, 2024, local sources accused Houthi militants of murdering a pregnant displaced woman after abducting her in southern Al-Hodeidah province, Yemen.
According to the Al-Hodeidah Media Office, the body of 45-year-old Fatima Ayash was found hours after her abduction by Houthi forces from the Marqoudah displacement camp in the Durayhimi district.
The office reported on its Facebook page that armed members of the Houthi group stormed the victim's home and took her away without providing any justification or accusations.
“After hours of her disappearance, her body was discovered early this morning in a remote area outside Durayhimi, showing signs of brutal torture,” the statement noted.
Ahmad Balaoush, the Director of the Human Rights Office in Durayhimi, stated that Houthi militants killed Fatima Ayash and forcibly removed her fetus, which was later found discarded in the desert north of the district.
He described this incident as part of hundreds of similar cases affecting women in the region, labeling the militia's actions as "some of the most heinous crimes against the local population."
