On the evening of December 29, 2024, violent clashes broke out between Yemeni army forces and Houthi militants, designated as a terrorist group by the international community, across several battlefronts in Taiz Province, southwestern Yemen.

Colonel Abdullah Abdul Wahid, commander of the 40th Front, reported to "Bran Press" that fierce fighting occurred in the neighborhoods of Asayfirah and Al-Arbaeen after Houthi fighters attempted to infiltrate army positions north of Taiz city.

Abdul Wahid confirmed that government forces successfully repelled the Houthi assaults, resulting in casualties among the Iran-backed militants.

In a related development, Colonel Abdul Rahman Al-Yousfi, director of the media center for the Taiz Axis, reported a significant Houthi attack on army positions in the Al-Ahtob front, located in the Jabal Habashi district west of Taiz city. He stated that Houthi forces attempted to advance towards Jabal Al-Maisarah in the Al-Ahtob area, but the army thwarted their efforts, inflicting casualties and forcing them to retreat.

Earlier in the day, Houthi forces launched artillery strikes on various neighborhoods within Taiz, particularly targeting the northern districts. In response, government forces retaliated by targeting the sources of fire.

According to military sources, the battlefronts in Taiz continue to witness sporadic clashes as Houthi militants attempt to gain ground through infiltration tactics. However, the army consistently proves capable of thwarting these efforts.
