On December 31, 2024, Major General Sultan al-Arada, a member of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, emphasized the need for an international stance against the ongoing threats posed by the Houthi movement, which is designated as a terrorist organization. His remarks came during a meeting with the South Korean Ambassador to Yemen, Bong Kai-do, where they discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in infrastructure and development projects.

Al-Arada condemned the Houthis' continued attacks on commercial vessels and their threats to international shipping routes in the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf, stating these actions "necessitate a global response."

According to the Yemeni news agency Saba, the meeting also addressed the dire humanitarian situation in Yemen. It explored ways to alleviate the crisis through support for sustainable infrastructure development projects. Al-Arada highlighted the importance of South Korea's role in future development initiatives in Yemen, particularly in education, information technology, and renewable energy, while encouraging Korean businesses to invest in various sectors.

Ambassador Bong reaffirmed South Korea's commitment to providing humanitarian and developmental assistance to the Yemeni people and expressed the South Korean government's desire to strengthen partnerships with Yemen for mutual benefit.
