On December 31, 2024, the Masam project, initiated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, announced the successful removal of 3,174 mines and unexploded ordnance in the fourth week of December. In a statement obtained by Barran Press, the center detailed that the demining efforts included three anti-personnel mines, seven anti-tank mines, and 3,164 pieces of unexploded ordnance. This brings the total number of mines cleared in December to 5,398.
Since its inception, the Masam project has removed a staggering 476,432 mines, which were indiscriminately planted in various regions, causing numerous casualties among innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.
