On December 31, 2024, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces conducted multiple precision strikes against Houthi targets in Sana'a and coastal locations over the past two days. This operation was aimed at disrupting the activities of the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, which is designated as a terrorist organization internationally.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, CENTCOM reported that US naval ships and aircraft targeted a Houthi command and control facility, as well as advanced conventional weapons production and storage sites, including missiles and drones. These installations have reportedly been used in Houthi operations against US naval vessels and commercial shipping in the southern Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

Additionally, CENTCOM indicated that US naval and air force aircraft destroyed a coastal radar site operated by the Houthis, along with seven cruise missiles and one-way attack drones over the Red Sea. The strikes were described as part of ongoing efforts by CENTCOM to diminish Iranian-backed Houthi threats to regional partners and military and commercial vessels.

Earlier in the day, US aircraft conducted six airstrikes targeting the Houthi-controlled Ministry of Defense in Sana'a and the former headquarters of the First Armored Division. On the previous day, airstrikes were carried out against positions in Al-Hudaydah’s Al-Tuhayat district.
